ESP Programmes

An ESP programme is one that is designed to develop a specific field or skill within the general framework of a student's language learning. An ESP programme has to be designed to meet a very clearly predetermined need. By their nature these programmes tend to be used (though not exclusively) for intermediate or advanced level learners. The duration of an ESP programme can be anything from a few hours to an ongoing course.

The content of an ESP programme could really be anything from a short telephone language skills training for secretaries of intermediate level to a longer programme aimed at company drivers at beginner level who need to be able communicate on a basic level with foreign guests or clients, or even a one-day presentation skills training course for advanced level speakers
